FED no longer offers dyno or Spintron testing to the public.
WHAT HP IS THE INTERCOOLED “ICEMAN” INTAKE RATED FOR?
The intercooler within our Iceman Intake Manifold is rated up to 2,000 Horsepower.
CAN I REUSE MY VALVETRAIN?
You can only use GM style LS7 rockers, or custom Jesel and T&D shaft rockers.
WILL MY EXISTING MANIFOLD WORK WITH THESE?
Any intake that was designed to fit the stock platform with work with the F-series.
HOW MUCH POWER WILL THESE MAKE THAN MY STOCK HEADS?
This all depends on your combo and how well it’s built. It could be 50-150 hp.
ARE THERE DIFFERENT VALVE SPRING OPTIONS?
There are several options depending on your build. Make sure to explain your goals and combo to your salesman so they can properly guide you to the correct components.
DO YOU OFFER UPGRADED VALVES?
Yes, we offer titanium intake and exhaust valves and we offer an Inconel exhaust upgrade.
DO YOU OFFER UPGRADED SEATS?
Yes, we offer mold star 90 or CHE copper upgrades.
WHAT HEADS STUDS DO I NEED?
This is block dependent and you will need to consult the stud manufacturer of your choosing.
DO I NEED NEW HEADERS TO RUN THESE?
These heads are designed to use a LS7 style header due to the bolt hole locations. We also recommend a header of 2” primaries to work best.
WHAT SPARK PLUGS WORK WITH THESE HEADS?
Standard Tapered Seat spark plugs.
WHAT PUSHROD LENGTH DO I NEED?
You must check pushrod length with a checker on every set of heads with your desired lifter to insure proper pushrod length.
WHAT SHOULD I TORQUE MY HEADS TO?
Torque your heads to the correct torque specs of the head bolts or studs your using.
HOW DO I FIGURE OUT MY COMPRESSION RATIO?
Use Wallaceracing.com and use their compression calculator online.
WHAT GAINS ARE TYPICAL WITH YOUR PORTED OEM CASTINGS?
35-60 rwhp
WHAT SEAT ANGLES DO YOU USE?
The seat angles depend on the head and the application. This is also proprietary information.
CAN MY EXISTING VALVES BE REUSED?
This completely depends on if there in good condition. Only upon inspection can this be determined.
CAN THE ANGLE BE CHANGED ON MY EXISTING VALVES?
This will depend on the material the valve has to work with. If there is enough margin to work with then there’s a good chance we can adjust the angle correctly.
HOW MUCH CAN BE SURFACED OFF THE DECK?
Depending on the thickness the deck starts at it could be up to .150 but in most cases .050.
WHAT HEAD GASKET DO YOU RECOMMEND?
We recommend Cometic or Felpro for all your gasket needs.
HOW DO I KNOW WHICH STAGE HEAD I NEED?
This will be discussed with your salesmen to determine the right combo.
WHAT IS CHAMBER SOFTENING?
This is a conical cut in the combustion chamber that has a certain angle applied from the edge of the bore to the center of the cylinder. This prevents fuel from being trapped in the quench area and slows the burn to allow for a wider tuning window and serves to prevent detonation.
CAN YOU ANGLE MILL MY HEADS?
Yes, we can angle mill your heads, but this will also require the head bolt hole to be corrected and the intake flange to be corrected.
DO YOU OFFER CUSTOM WORK FOR SPECIFIC CLASSES/APPLICATIONS?
We sure do, we do a lot of high-end custom work for very specific classes with very particular rules.
HOW MUCH PISTON TO VALVE CLEARANCE DO I NEED?
We recommend a minimum of .080 intake and .120 exhaust but if you’re a professional engine builder you can run them to your desired comfort level.
WHICH FAMILY OF MANIFOLDS IS RIGHT FOR ME?
This will depend on the combo, RPM, and cam. Please ask your sales associate.
HOW MUCH BOOST CAN YOUR MANIFOLDS HOLD?
Our Billet intakes can hold 75-100 PSI.
HOW MUCH POWER WILL I PICK UP OVER MY STOCK MANIFOLD?
Depends on the combination and gains will vary.
ARE YOUR MANIFOLDS COMPATIBLE WITH THE OEM PCV SYSTEM?
Yes, they are but they’ll need fitting to adapt them correctly.
DO I NEED GASKETS WITH YOUR MANIFOLDS?
You will not need gaskets with our intakes, they use rubber O-rings to seal.
WHICH THROTTLE BODIES FIT WHICH MANIFOLDS?
Depending on the intake some are built for 90mm and some for 102 or bigger.
DO YOU OFFER PORT MATCHING SERVICES?
Yes, we do!
CAN YOU PORT MY EXISTING MANIFOLD?
Usually, we can unless the manifold has been modified previously.
WHAT PUSHRODS DO YOU RECOMMEND?
This all depends on the application. Talk to your salesman for more information.
HOW MUCH LIFT CAN I RUN WITH YOUR STANDARD SPRING KIT?
This depends on the spring kit. Most of our hydraulic kits are good to .680lift and our solid roller standard kits work to .900 lift. We can also spec custom kits to meet any needs necessary.
WHAT CAM IS BEST FOR ME?
We spec custom cams for most of our builds, or you can call Steven at Cammotion for advice.
DO YOU SELL CUSTOM CAMS?
We sell lots of custom cams to suit all your needs.
HOW DO I CHECK THE LASH?
Lash can be checked hot or cold and the numbers will vary. You need to check what the lash recommendation is for your cam. Then you’ll check lash when the cam is on the base circle, you’ll check the Intake lash when the Exhaust valve is just opening in the cycle. Then you’ll check the exhaust lash when the Intake valve is closing.
WHAT IS METH INJECTION AND WHY DO I NEED IT?
This is a question for your tuner, engine builder, etc.
WHAT IS AN LLSR SETUP?
LLSR stands for Low Lash Solid Roller. This just means the lash required to use this setup is very minimum and allows for minimum valvetrain adjustment.
HOW DO YOU TEST YOUR CYLINDER HEAD AND MANIFOLD DESIGNS?
We build prototypes and then we test them on the engine dyno. After we get the results we’re seeking we’ll give the products to other shops to do real-world track testing. We also use CFD software to help us design the best product possible.
WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE TO MANUFACTURE YOUR PRODUCTS?
We use MAZAK, HURCO, CENTROID, NEWEN, and Rottler.

DO YOU OFFER ENGINE TUNING SERVICES?
No, and No
WHAT IS BILLET?
It’s a pure form of aluminum that’s compressed and heat-treated for strength and durability.
IS EVERYTHING MADE IN-HOUSE?
99% of our products are made in house, but we do not make valve springs or valves, so we buy from other vendors to fill those orders.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT YOUR PERFORMANCE HEADS AND MANIFOLDS COMPARED TO OTHERS?
We pour our heart and soul into our product and you won’t find another product that has the attention to detail and performance as ours.
IS THERE A GUARANTEE OR WARRANTY?
We don’t have a guarantee or warranty due to the nature in which these products are used. We do stand behind our products for defects and certain failures if determined it was caused by our workmanship.
WHAT IF I REQUEST A REFUND?
We have a restocking fee of 30%.
WHAT IS F-SERIES?
These are a proprietary casting that we spent two years designing and manufacturing. They are 100% American made and cast in Detroit. These are the ultimate LS style heads in the world right now. No LS head compares to the features and performance of the F-series.
HOW CAN I IDENTIFY WHAT HEADS I HAVE?
We serial number everything we do, so all you need to do is provide us with that number and we can give you all the production details.
DO YOU REPAIR OTHER MANUFACTURER’S HEADS?
No.

WHAT ARE LASH CAPS?
Lash caps are hardened steel caps that protect to tips of certain valves that do not have a hardened tip already.
WHY DOESN’T FED PORT 862 OR 706 CASTINGS?
We now port these.
WHAT TEMPERATURE ARE THE EXHAUST O-RINGS RATED FOR?
500 degrees F
WHICH HEAD DO I NEED?
This needs to be discussed with a sales specialist.
ARE YOUR M311S BETTER THAN F-SERIES?
No, but they are very good for the price point.
